Ruby arrived at Merazonia in 2019 after she had been confiscated from where she had been kept as an illegal pet. Ruby was in terrible condition, extremely emaciated with bot-fly larvae in her lower back. She was also missing fur around her waist where a rope had been tied.

Ruby proved to have a lot of fight left in her and made an astonishing recovery. She was released in late 2020 and formed a group of three females. Today, Ruby is the strong, sassy alpha of this same group and is very much thriving in the wild.
